Ignite Digital Talent is a young, fresh and innovative recruitment agency who have recently moved from Boxworks to Temple Studios. We spoke to Ignite’s Operations Director, Nicola Alexander, about her experience of what the Enterprise Zone has to offer – and what the future might hold.
Business age: 2.5 years
Number of employees: Currently 9, with plans to hire another 2 in the summer.
Length of time in Temple Quarter: We chose to move to Boxworks in July 2016 because we were starting to outgrow our office and wanted to be part of a vibrant and innovative business community. Now we’ve also outgrown Boxworks (which we loved) and relocated to Temple Studios. With both of these locations, getting full access to the Engine Shed business lounge has been fantastic and has enabled us to meet up with our clients and candidates on site.
What does Ignite Digital Talent do? We are one of the UK’s leading specialist Data, Digital and Technology recruiters. Progressive in our field and trusted by our clients, we find candidates for some of the best opportunities created by mobile, data and next generation software. We hold partnerships with some of the most innovative employers in the UK and they demand the very best talent to grow their businesses.
What is the business’ philosophy and key aims? Innovation in technology and the opportunities it presents for business have never been so remarkable or challenging. Against this backdrop we have the singular purpose of managing talent for the digital age. Put simply, we believe that people – and not technology innovation alone – transform opportunity into sustainable business growth.
How has the business grown since being in Temple Quarter? We have been able to grow both our team and our client base since being in Temple Quarter. We’ve had two significant account wins within the ed tech sector since being here and we have increased our headcount from 5 to 9 people.
How has being based in the area helped Ignite? Being based in Temple Quarter has definitely helped when hiring staff. As a young business we’ve been able to benefit from the vibrant community here and there have been some excellent networking and social events to get involved in (Boxworks’ Christmas party was legendary!). We’ve also made use of the location to find some great partners for our business, using neighbouring companies for web and creative services. And it has enabled us to better support clients who are early on in their journey and need advice around tech hiring.
Proximity to the train station is another plus – we can practically see the platform from our office! It means we can easily reach clients in London and around the UK, and they can visit us too.
What are your plans for the future? Our business continues to thrive here at Temple Quarter and we are about to launch a specialist service for clients who need Data Contractors. Our client base is growing month on month as more and more people enjoy the experience of working with Ignite Digital Talent.
What do you want to see happening in Temple Quarter in the near future? We would love more eateries – something along the lines of Cargo at Wapping Wharf would be amazing! In the long term, we would also like to see the area expand and provide more flexible on space for companies so that they can stay in the area as they grow.
Describe the business in 3 words. Progressive, Trusted, Specialist.
