Businesses working in Bristol Temple Quarter and developers looking for new sites can benefit from a range of incentives that enterprise zones offer:
Five years’ worth of business rate discounts were offered within the original enterprise zone when it was first established in 2012. The trigger period for qualifying for these ended in March 2018. Businesses that qualified by this deadline can still obtain the years remaining on their discounts as long as they continue to meet the qualifying criteria.
The scope for awarding business rates discounts in the enterprise zone extension which came into force in 2017 is under review.
The zone offers simplified local authority planning: for example, through Local Development Orders that grant automatic planning permission for certain developments (such as new industrial buildings or changing how existing buildings are used).
