Improving access to the east of Bristol
The new £23m Eastern Entrance will dramatically improve access to and from Bristol Temple Meads for people living and working in the east of Bristol. It will open directly into the new University of Bristol’s new Enterprise Campus, forming a new gateway into this part of the city.
Works on the entrance started at the end of 2023, and included extending the subway within the station by excavating through the retaining wall and underneath platforms 13 and 15, followed by drainage and foundations work.
The building is now substantially complete – the main works were finished in October 2024. The entrance will open alongside the new university campus in Autumn 2026. By 2030, 2.5m people a year will use this entrance.
