We welcome the announcement by the Government today that they are making available another £59 million for investment in infrastructure for Enterprise Zones. It is encouraging to see them showing commitment and financial support to enable Enterprise Zones to develop in what is a challenging economic climate.
Bristol Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone successfully bid for £20.8 million of funding from the Local Infrastructure Fund last autumn and are currently working up the detailed plans for 17 pieces of infrastructure in the zone. These will improve access between sites and open up the public space, creating better pedestrian and cycling access and improved road layouts, including as the roundabout at Temple Circus.
We estimate we are likely to need to spend around £100 million altogether on infrastructure work in Temple Quarter. This additional pot of money from Government could enable us to bring forward a number of additional projects that we currently don’t have the funding for. Once we have seen the details in the Prospectus, we will undoubtedly look at putting a bid in for further funding.
